My Work Themes
Themes
Climate
Climate change adaptation and resilience for marginalised populations involve various strategies. These include actions and approaches addressing the vulnerability reduction of these populations regarding climate change impacts. These groups include low-income populations, women, and children. Persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples are also part of these groups. Many other minor groupings are highly exposed due to social, economic, and political inequities.
Disability
Inclusive development is an approach to international development that ensures the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of development programs and processes. It involves breaking barriers to participation and promoting equal opportunities for persons with disabilities so that special needs are accommodated to achieve equal outcomes.
Education
Inclusive education gives all children access to education without discrimination. It provides equal opportunities to access quality education regardless of their abilities, socioeconomic background, ethnicity, or disability. It involves breaking down barriers to learning and creating an atmosphere that allows every child to flourish academically and socially.
Employment
Inclusive employment involves creating equitable job opportunities. It is focused on people from marginalised groups who have been excluded from entering the job market. Such excluded groups may include persons with disabilities, women, ethnic minorities, and sexual and gender minorities. Refugees and others are also included, as their position in society is maintained by social, cultural, or economic mechanisms that uphold exclusionary practices.
Gender
Inclusive development features two important ideas: “gender equity” and “gender equality”. These are not interchangeable terms. They refer to a condition and a process leading to that condition of fairness and equal opportunity for all genders. Although linked, they carry different meanings and occupy different places in development policy and practice.
Labour Market
An inclusive labor market is instrumental for several reasons, touching on economic, social, and ethical reasons.
- Economic Growth and Efficiency.
- Poverty Reduction and Social Equity
- Corporate and Organizational Benefits
- Moral and Human Rights Obligations
- Resilience and Adaptability
Social Protection
Inclusive Adaptive Social Protection (ASP) for marginalised populations is based on the idea of inclusive social protection. It adds resilience-building measures. These measures help individuals and society adapt to and recover from various shocks and stresses. These include climate change, natural disasters, pandemics, and economic crises. These events affect marginal groups more severely. Groups such as persons with disabilities, elderly people, women, children, ethnic minorities, and people living in poverty are hit harder.
Supply Chains
Inclusive supply chains involve the participation of marginalized populations. These include persons who have been excluded or underrepresented in economic processes, systems, and opportunities. This exclusion is due to their status or circumstances. These groups include persons with disabilities, women, ethnic minorities, refugees, and other vulnerable groups.
TVET
Inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for marginalised populations ensures training programs are accessible to all. These programs are designed to meet the needs of disadvantaged or underrepresented groups in vocational skills. These groups include persons with disabilities, women, ethnic minorities, and refugees. People of low income and LGBTQIA+ people are also included. Their conditions make it difficult for them to enter schools or find jobs.
